Position: Food Rescue Coordinator, St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP)
This role is managing a new program for food rescue; picking up food donations from local grocery stores and overseeing the intake and distribution of these rescue items. The Food Rescue Coordinator will report to the Volunteer Coordinator / Food Shelf Manager.

Hours: This position is an hourly part-time position. Hours will vary but average 20 hours per week. Flexibility to increase hours as program changes occur will be necessary. Must be available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. It is a temporary position with the possibility of being made permanent within three months of hire.

Compensation: Pay will be based on qualifications within the range of $13-$16/hour. If made permanent, benefits may include generous sick, vacation and holiday leave, retirement plan, and employer sponsored benefit stipend.

Duties and Responsibilities:
– Maintain, evaluate and execute STEP’s Food Rescue Program
– Train, oversee and work alongside Food Rescue volunteers
– Be present to oversee food rescue deliveries; have warehouse ready to receive delivery and ensure food is properly sorted and stored
– Ensure food safety and quality guidelines are being met
– Problem solve with staff and volunteers in the area of Food Rescue
– Serve as back up to Food Rescue Volunteers; must be available to pick up from Food Rescue sites when a volunteer is unable
– Drive own vehicle to grocery store sites to pick up donated product when a volunteer is unable
– Load and unload food rescue product
– Lift boxes of product and use pallet jack to move and load product
– Log and maintain records of incoming products and related information
– Support growth and change within the Food Rescue Program as needed
– Ensure incoming food rescue is stocked and distributed to clients in a timely manner
– Communicate with Food Rescue Partners in relation to program changes, including date or pick up time alterations
– Perform miscellaneous pickups and drop-offs including large food drives/donations
– Participate in annual inventory
– Continually maintain organization and function in warehouse
– Ensure cleanliness of warehouse and food shelf
– Manage First In First Out method of inventory control
– Manage organics, trash and recycling
– Ensure warehouse volunteers are working safely

Qualifications & Experience:
– Nonprofit volunteer experience, preferably in the area of basic needs
– Physical ability to load and unload boxes and bags on a regular basis, up to 50 pounds
– SUV, hatchback, or truck with covered bed vehicle required
– Valid driver’s license with acceptable record and current auto insurance
– Ability to multi-task
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Positive, can-do attitude
– Ability to work well and closely in a small staff environment, can ask for assistance when needed
