March is just around the corner, and WE NEED YOU TO HELP us make a true impact during a traditionally slow time of year for food donations. The Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign is the biggest grassroots food and fund drive in the state, providing community members the chance to rally together to support local food shelves.

Last year, STEP provided nutritious food to over 2,800 individuals – more than a 45% increase from the previous year. Your support of STEP is more important than ever—because as the only food shelf in St. Louis Park, we contribute to the stability of seniors, children, their caregivers, and the broader community. No one in our community should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to make sure everyone in our community has enough to eat. Let’s come together and show what we can do!

How you can help:

1. Organize a food collection within your organization.
Here’s a list of our
most needed food items.

2. Make it a competition! Challenge other departments, classrooms, scout troops, neighborhoods, schools etc. for fun or prizes! Ideas include:

  • Cereal box domino competition
  • Canned food sculpture/stack
  • Fundraising event like a good old fashioned bake sale, with proceeds going to STEP.

3. Become a community drop off site.
Make it convenient for community members to drop off their donations. Contact Mari-Claire for more information on how this works!

4. Contact Cub Knollwood or West End (or elsewhere) to set up collection opportunities such as,

  • Choose a date and time to solicit food donations from shoppers. Bring what you collect to STEP for a final weight!
  • Bag for tips for STEP

5. Bring your donations to any of our “Fill the STEP Van” events:

6. Make a financial donation directly to STEP! Financial donations allow us to purchase the food we need in bulk.
